Join our team
This is an exceptional moment to join Velindre University NHS Trust.
Welcome from Sara Moseley, Chair
Thank you for your interest in joining us at Velindre University NHS Trust.
Velindre holds a unique and nationally significant position within NHS Wales. We provide specialist cancer services for South East Wales alongside blood, transplant, laboratory and immunogenetics services for patients and hospitals across the whole of Wales. Our work is complex, critical and deeply meaningful; and supported by a highly skilled and committed workforce.
We are at a pivotal moment for our Trust, our patients and donors.
In 2027, we will move into the new Velindre Cancer Centre, the largest health infrastructure development in Wales and one of the greenest anywhere. We are in the midst of modernising our high-performing blood and transplant service, building resilience and unlocking huge potential for new therapies. All this is in a context of growing need for our services and expertise and considerable NHS pressures.
Our strategy, Destination 2033 outlines the Trust aims, and how we set out to realise its goals. It sets a clear ambition: to deliver high‑quality, sustainable and person‑centred care; to be a beacon for research, innovation and digital advancement; and to place the wellbeing and engagement of our people at the heart of everything we do.
As we move towards the appointment of a substantive Chief Executive, we are also focused on shaping, stabilising and strengthening our Executive team. This is a critical period of transition for the organisation, and we are seeking to build a cohesive, credible and high‑performing Board that can provide both stability and momentum. Our ambition is to create a leadership team that is united in purpose, confident in navigating complexity and committed to delivering the ambitions set out in our strategy, Destination 2033.
We are therefore looking to appoint Executive Directors who bring not only deep professional expertise and experience in complex organisational settings, but also authentic, values‑led leadership. We need individuals who are able to lead through change with clarity and compassion; who can engage and inspire our people; and who will work collaboratively across organisational and system boundaries to deliver sustainable improvement. Credibility, integrity and the ability to build trust – with colleagues, partners and the communities we serve – will be essential.
These roles represent an exceptional opportunity to join Velindre at a defining moment in its journey. You will play a central role in shaping the future leadership of our organisation, supporting our people through change and helping to realise our ambition to deliver outstanding, person‑centred care and improved outcomes for patients and donors across Wales.
If you are motivated by the opportunity to make a meaningful impact and to contribute to the leadership of a nationally important organisation, I warmly encourage you to consider joining us.
